titans advance to state final with win over University school |

Toledo Blade.
"St.
John’s Jesuit defeated Hunting Valley University School 5-3 in the
state semifinals at Nationwide Arena this morning. Junior
Chase Parsell scored two goals, including the game winner with 7:24
left. Junior Cam Hauenstein scored a goal and assisted on the
winning marker. Junior Dan Johnson had three assists. Shane Hetrick
and Mark Stansfield tallied the other goals. St. John’s, which
had to rally from behind twice, advances to the state final at 1
p.m. tomorrow." |

titans advance to frozen four with shutout win over findlay |

Toledo Blade.
"St. John's Jesuit swarmed all over Findlay early, using a decided
edge in speed to take a three goal lead in a district hockey final
last night. The Titans then
relied on goalie Tyler Marzec to knock the Trojans out. St. John's
tallied two power play goals, sophomore Ray Morris scored twice and
Marzec made 24 saves in a 3-0 shutout at a packed Tam O'Shanter."

titans advance to District finals with OT win over SFS |
|
Great
goaltending and timely goal scoring was the formula for finally
defeating a St. Francis team in the district playoffs. The Varsity
Titans advance to the District Finals next Saturday against Findlay
by defeating St. Francis 2-1 in overtime.

titans close out regular season with win at BG |
|
The varsity
Titans closed out both the regular season and the conference with a
hard fought 3-1 victory at Bowling Green. It was Senior Day in
Bowling Green and BG came out early and tried to intimidate and slow
down SJJ with strong physical play. The Titans responded with some
good physical play of their own.

titans finish 2nd in Mt. lebanon tournament |

The Varsity
Titans traveled to Pittsburgh this weekend to play in the Mt.
Lebanon Invitational tournament and finished 2nd. After going 3-0
in the preliminary rounds, the Titans lost 1-0 to host Mt. Lebanon
in the finals

titans clinch nhc championship |
|
It took a
little scare on Friday night but the varsity Titans were able to
clinch the NHC Red Division for the first time since 1989. The
Titans won two games over the weekend, 3-2 over Sylvania Southview
and 5-2 over arch rival St. Francis to clinch the division with one
game remaining. It raises their conference mark to 7-1-1 (19-6-3
overall) while every other team in the conference has at least 3
losses.

strong weekend for titans |
|
The varsity
Titans tightened their grip on the Northwest Conference standings
with two strong wins against their closest challengers. SJJ beat
Findlay 4-1 and Northview 5-1 to up their conference record to
5-1-1.
This weekend
seemed to be potentially a turning point for the top four teams in
the conference. All four controlled their destiny as they were all
scheduled to play two games against their closest challengers. On
Friday, SJJ had to travel to Findlay, always a tough place to play.
The Titans got to work early and jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead.
After Findlay cut the lead to one with a goal of their own, SJJ came
back with two goals in the second to take a 4-1 lead.

Titans win AW MLK tournament |
|
St
Johns JV Titans traveled to Findlay OH over the Martin Luther King
JR Holiday Weekend to play in the Anthony Wayne’s annual “I HAVE A
DREAM to win” tournament.
The JV Titans
started the weekend off well on Friday with a convincing 6-0 win
over the hosting Anthony Wayne Generals. Michael Brahaney was very
solid in net posting a complete game shutout turning away all shots
faced. The offense was led by Tyler Jarosz, who was awarded game
MVP, and Cory Speelman.

Titans
place third in Titan Invitational |
|
The Varsity
Titans hosted their annual Titan Invitational Tournament January
12th through the 14th. Overall, they had a successful weekend
although they were unable to defend their championship. London, ON
Mother Theresa won the tournament beating Elyria Catholic in the
finals 5-3. continue...

Titans win Padua holiday tournament |
|
The Varsity Titans played in the
annual Padua Holiday Tournament last weekend. It was a perfect
example of it’s not how you start but how you finish. After getting
off to a poor start with a 4-2 loss to University School in the
opening game, the Titans ran off four straight victories including
an exciting 5-4 overtime shootout victory over the same University
School in the finals.
In the second game on Saturday
morning, St. John’s had to play an equally tough team in perennial
state power Lakewood St. Edward’s. The Titans came out much
stronger in this contest and jumped out to a 4-0 lead and was able
to hold on to win 4-2.

season outlook |
|
This year’s Titans show some promise
of once again being among the top teams in the state. They
also show promise of surpassing the success they achieved last year
including their 22 wins and 7-2-1 record in conference.
To start, the Titans return 13 starters from last year including
almost all of their offense. This year’s returnees accounted
for over 75% of the goal production last year including five players
who had double-digit goal production. continue...
