The Steering Committee was established to manage the financials for the team and to relieve the coaches from the organizational and administration tasks of the hockey program. This allows the coaches to focus on the players and their development.
The Committee consists of several key positions such as the President, Treasurer, TIT Tournament Coordinator, Secretary, Game Day Operations Coordinator, Travel Coordinator, and Annual Coordinator (Fund Raising). However, each year the President has the option of changing and adding positions to meet the team’s needs. Each of these positions are filled by a parent of a current hockey player by the Committee members soliciting and selecting parents to volunteer for the Committee. Parents who are interested in being a member of the Steering Committee should contact the current President or a Committee member.
The Steering Committee meets approximately once a month with the varsity head coach to determine what non-coaching requirements need to be met for the team. These requirements include reviewing the financials, and the planning and preparation of upcoming events. The St. John’s Athletic Director is invited to each meeting. Also the President and Treasurer should request a meeting at the end of the year with the Principal of SJJ to review the financials and other team related subjects.
The Committee is responsible for ensuring that the necessary fund raisers and fees are being charged to meet the team’s financial needs for each season and funds are being spent appropriately for the team. The current President and Treasurer have all fiduciary responsibility.
For any questions or concerns, please contact the Steering Committee President. |
